Savings of SEK 440,000 per year with Energy Probe

Over 440,000 SEK in annual savings

At Måltidsservice in Nyköping Municipality, the need to reduce energy and equipment costs had been a recurring discussion. Following an Energy Probe presentation, they saw an opportunity to save on both energy consumption and equipment wear — leading to the decision to install the technology in 109 fridge-freezers.

“Already at the first presentation, I understood the concept, and I thought it was a really smart solution. At first, the price seemed like a great investment, but when we saw the calculations, it became clear how quickly we would cash in, "” says Marianne Backrud Hagberg, Head of Meal Service at Nyköping Municipality.

She was absolutely right — the savings amounted to over 440 000 SEK per year, along with a positive environmental impact:

- Energy consumption reduced by 133,974 kWh per year
- 1,380,024 fewer compressor starts per year
- Compressor savings on 306 234 SEK per year*
- CO2 emissions decreased by more than 12 tonnes per year

40% fewer service visits — and improved monitoring‍‍

Because Energy Probe continuously monitors the actual temperature of stored foods, it also offers great benefits for food safety and internal quality control.

“" I see great opportunities to streamline our monitoring because we can now see the exact temperature of the food, "” says Marianne Backrud Hagberg.

Also the municipality's contracted refrigeration company, Energia interno, sees clear advantages:
“" Communication has improved between us and the customer, as we can both refer to the same real-time temperature data without being on site, "”
says Adam Stenberg, head of agreements at Indoor Energy.

He also confirms that all false alarms caused by air temperature fluctuations have disappeared — problems that usually occur when a door is left open, when loading or defrosting.

‍“" Overall, service requests have decreased by about 40%. Now when we get an alarm, it's usually because something is actually broken -- which allows us to prioritize our time more effectively. We avoid unnecessary emergency calls, which saves both hours of work for us and money for the municipality. "”

Marianne Backrud Hagberg agrees:‍ “Since it is Meal Service that pays for emergency calls and broken components, this is a hugely positive outcome for us."”

Flexible installation of the municipality's own refrigeration company

Nyköping Municipality wanted their contracted refrigeration company to handle the installations of Energy Probe. This required a slightly different approach, as it was the first time Enclima did not perform the installations directly.
